Boston Legal - the End

Last week was the series finale of Boston Legal.  BL is has been one of the best shows on TV for the past few years and we are sad that it won't be on anymore.  I think the best part about it is that it makes fun of itself, it even referred to the last episode "jumping the shark" when Denny proposed to Alan.  Frickin hilarious.  The show was funny, smart, often over the top, and it had William Shatner whose cell phone ring was the Enterprise sound.  Fantastic.  We will miss this show, but at least we still have Chuck.

OTH off the TiVO

**WARNING - SPOILER ALERT**

New shows have started for certain TV series. I started watching One Tree Hill last year and thought it was a decent show. After watching the first show of this season, it is now deleted from my season's pass manager. Too many crazy people on the show, certain people leaving the show, and a woman getting attacked are just not the things I want to be watching right now. Plus, Lucas picked Peyton who I have always found annoying from the beginning of the show.

On the other hand, Gossip Girl looks like it's off to a good start.

In Plain Sight

I usually leave the TV blogging up to LB, but this new show on USA, In Plain Sight, may not be on her radar. There have only been two episodes so far and it's quite a good show. It's about Mary, a US Marshall, and the jobs she takes, her family and relationship. It's on USA so it's not in HD, but the writing seems solid and I think it will be a nice break from summer reruns. Starring: Mary McCormack (Coyote Ugly), Frederick Weller, Lesley Ann Warren. Check it out if you're so inclined.

Goodbye Gilmore Girls

This week hosted the series finale of Gilmore Girls. This was a fun show about a quirky town with crazy characters centered around a mother and daughter relationship with a few hot guys thrown in (see below, although Scott Patterson is only cute with the hat on).

I really liked this show because even though it was weird it was funny, dramatic, but not overly, and it was a nice escape from all the TV with people getting blown up or competing fiercely against each other to win some crazy prize.

Plus, this week, even though it was the last episode, was extra fun to watch since my friend LB threw a GG party where we all ate like the Girls (i.e. take out chinese, pizza, chicken nuggets, ice cream, cookies, brownies, mallomars, etc.)

I thought the show was well done considering it wasn't necessarily written to be a series finale. It was funny, yet sentimental and Luke and Lorelai kissed (YEAH!) For more recaps check out:

I'm sad it's not on anymore, but at least now I can cross off another show I am addicted to.

What is Manamana?

Answer: The first sketch of the first episode of The Muppet Show.

As a splurge over Christmas, I bought myself the first season of The Muppet Show on DVD. I watched the first three episodes last night. It is such an awesome show. Anyone who has kids ages 3 and up should own this show. There aren't any scary parts and the muppets are hilareous and what the kids don't get, the parents will. I think Jim Henson was on some heavy drugs when he created this show, but he was a genius.

Where else will you see a left-handed conducting frog? (Who knows who else is a left-handed conductor?)

Ads and Americal Idol

I was just reminded of this horrible commercial I saw yesterday. I usually don't watch commercials anymore because we have TiVO, but I was just flipping through and there was this commercial where these people were driving in a car talking and all of a sudden they were blindsided on the drivers side by a suburban, and the next shot is of the girl in the passengers side saying something like, "holy sh*t", but it's obviously not that since you can't swear in commercials, and then it shows you the car is a Jetta. It definitely has shock factor - I'll give it that. But seriously, are they trying to beat Volvo or somthing? There are so many other selling points they could choose from. Maybe it's just our society isn't wowed by anything except shock factor anymore, which is a sad commentary on society that we are so numb to everything that we have to see an horrible car accident on a commercial to movitate us to think about safety in our vehicles. I'm glad I don't have to watch too many commercials anymore.

On a completely different note, does anyone watch Americal Idol? I am totally hooked on it, and the remaining singers are actually pretty good, although, I cannot
for the life of me understand why country girl Pickler is still on there, except that she is blond and has big boobs (they're not even that big). And I am not on the Katherine McPhee bandwagon. Sure, she can sing, but she's kind-of a boring performer and just doesn't seem genuine, however, I skip right through the interviews and personal interest stories and just listen to the performances so I could be missing something. For those of you who know me, I am a sucker for a rock star and so I love Chris. He has a good rock voice, and although I don't think he will win Americal Idol, I think Clive Davis is already assembling a band for him when he gets kicked off. I am glad Ace finally got kicked off, I don't know if I could stand any more falsetto from him. My best guess for the final 2 is Katherine and Kellie. Elliot has the voice but not the looks, Taylor is too crazy, Chris is too much of a rocker and Paris is too young, although she could be the wild card.
